German Technology Domains Highly Aligned with Vietnam’s Blue Economy Strategy - Part 1

1. Offshore Renewable Energy & Marine Energy Infrastructure
Vietnam has enormous potential in offshore wind, wave energy, and tidal power.
Germany, in turn, has strong capabilities in:
- the design, manufacturing, and operation of offshore wind turbines,
- offshore power conversion and transmission platforms, and
- technologies that integrate offshore wind with green hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol.
This is a long-term strategic cooperation field, extending beyond equipment supply to include marine spatial planning, system operation, workforce training, and technology transfer.
2. Maritime Transport, Green Ports & Smart Logistics
A key pillar of Vietnam’s blue economy strategy is the development of seaports and logistics closely integrated with global supply chains.
Germany is a leader in:
- green ports, focusing on emissions reduction and energy optimization,
- port digitalization, including AI- and IoT-based cargo flow management, and
- clean-fuel vessel solutions using LNG, hydrogen, and e-fuels.
These technologies are particularly well suited to Vietnam’s major ports and coastal economic zones during the 2025–2040 development period.
